Organize your book collection in a database and finally know exactly which books you own.

Book Collector is a program for making a database of your book library: paperbacks, hardcovers, magazines, bundles, and other book formats. Adding books to the database is quick and easy because all information is automatically downloaded from book database sites (e.g. Library of Congress) and online book stores on the internet. The resulting list can be sorted, searched, grouped, printed or exported to HTML or ASCII.

Use Book Collector to:

Catalog books automatically
Just type or scan ISBN barcode or type author and title to add books to your database.

Download all book data
Including cover image, author, title, publisher, year and genre.

Browse your book covers
Use the Thumbnail View to browse your collection by cover image.

View or print sorted lists
Lists are configurable, you choose what to list and in which order.

Search your book database
E.g. find a book by title or find all books you haven't read yet

Export your data (PRO only)
Export to HTML, XML, CSV or to the Notes section of your iPod.

Track your loans (PRO only)

I was preparing myself a database in access having those function of bookcollector, it was great, only I had one problem, the size increased to 500 mb so I had to find another way. I have the previous version of this program and it is nice, light (esp if you do not fill the notes section much). Only problem I have with it, if you have your own cataloguing system, you have to manually enter all the stuff for getting data using amazon -however much easier - for the results are different then the one I desire and when you change sth sometimes it causes problem with this method.

Now to the heart of the problem, it is a very good software but you cannot import data from other softwares - so I am reentering all my stuff (hell of a job)

Yet, still I like the format of it a lot and in its site it is possible to find very nice templates :D

Just an idea. I also use book collector for catalogueing my books (Please forgive my spelling).

Use this link
Code: Select all
http://www.r9corporation.fsnet.co.uk/bookfinder.htm

Then type the name of the book tp catalogue.

Copy the ISBN and paste it in the "Add books by ISBN" section of the program.

Connect to the web. It will download all the necessary info including the cover (cool). You can mention which all websites it must access to get the info.

Now open the book and add any notes you want. Do not forget to check the Read or Not Read book option. This will be helpful.

The if you have the book as ebook just specify the location under its properties.

Now just by clicking on the link for the ebook, the ebook opens!

The only problem is that it takes about 3 minutes to catalogue books by different authors.

Hope this guide was helpful to you.
:)
