I just ordered book 3 in The Obsidian Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey, and i know i waited a long time for someone to scan, and make a ebook out of it,but no one did.So what i'm wanting to know,is if anyone has a guide on how to scan books and make them into ebooks. So i can share the book cuz i know a few other people where looking for it.
Thanks allot!

Try:
Code: Select all
http://ebooksdrop.com/ebooksite/index.html

the #ebooks faq website. There are sections on scanning, saving a scan, and proofing the files, all with good images to show you what they mean.

You should download the pack for proofers from:

Code: Select all
http://rapidshare.com/files/69737543/pck.rar.html

It has a lot of good utils that make scanning/proofing easier and it also has guides on how to best scan a book and OCR it. The best program I have found for OCR is ABBYY FineReader.

Also, I found that if you take a digital camera and take photos of each page at a high resolution then finereader doesn't have any trouble processing the text. All you need is a steady hand (or a tripod). Thats what I use when I have to scan a book as its a lot faster than scanning each page manually.

Looking forward to your scan. :)
